Facebook is trying to compete YouTube with Watch to broadcast video

Many people use Facebook on a daily basis for various reasons, and now it seems that Facebook is trying to add another reason to this list. The company has announced the Watch platform, which hopes to attract viewers to a range of original programs.

The programs will be available for viewing through mobile phones, computers, laptops and smart TVs, but Facebook has not specified which platforms will work when the service is launched. Users can subscribe to their favorite channels – like YouTube – in what is called a Watchlist.

Watch will appear to blur the line between live streaming and recorded programs, which could lead to interesting results. Watch is scheduled to launch on August 28th with about 40 original programs.
