Google is not curious about developing products that end up competing with each other to some extent. Thus, the company is forced to make a decision to close one of the two services. The company faced the same dilemma with Youtube Red and Google Play Music. Google has now decided that instead of closing one of these services, they will be merged into one service.
Mr. Lyor Cohen, head of Google’s music department, confirmed that Google plans to integrate Google Play Music and Youtube Red into a new broadcast service. Mr Lyor Cohen says the company feels the need to combine both services to better educate customers about the offerings and bring in new subscribers. At a conference held in the American capital New York, Mr. Lyor Cohen said:
“The important thing is to combine Youtube Red and Google Play Music, and make one presentation. “
A few months ago, it was reported that Google might end up merging these two services together. Rumors began to make more sense when Google combined teams working on Youtube Red and Google Play Music. Google is currently evaluating how to integrate. The company said it will notify users about any changes before they are implemented.
