Google and YouTube benefiting from terrorist propaganda

Some members of the British Parliament this week accused both Google and YouTube of benefiting from the hate speech and terrorist propaganda on their platforms, voicing their “shameful” work on censorship of extremism.

Some MPs went further, saying that both companies “are trying hard to protect their profits” at the expense of maintaining the security of the Internet community.

Therefore, the Parliament’s plenary session discussed the application of a fee paid by these platforms, so that the police find a way to their sites on the Internet; in order to maintain a permanent control over the content there.

Even if this proposal was not accepted, the State Affairs Committee threatened to sue the two companies with fines, which could amount to billions of dollars.
